Our printing is done with low-impact fiber reactive or natural dyes, water based inks and pigments. When you purchase Cotton products you are benefiting not only the environment but the hard work of the farmers who use sustainable methods. Since cotton is also a fair trade product the farmers who grow it are ruefully paid a fair price above the market rate for the honest fruits of their labour.
While the fabric is organic cotton, the waterproof polyurethane lamination is not organic. However polyurethane is the cleanest, safest, and most durable water barrier available on the market today. It is 100% waterproof, breathable, inert, free of VOCs & PVC, burns clean, and doesn't off gas or leach chemicals. At this time it is impossible to have a 100% organic mattress protector that is also 100% waterproof and can withstand regular use and laundering over a long period of time.
