How is cotton picked today?

Cotton pickers are machines that extract cotton bolls off stalks. These machines pluck (or twist) the seed cotton from the opening burr using revolving spindles. The seed cotton is subsequently removed from the spindles by Doffers. A cotton remover, a second machine, may also be employed.
