Modern Futon Couch Bed (Modern Sofabeds)
What Is A Sofa Bed
A sofa bed has many names including; futon couch; sofa sleeper; pull-out sofa bed; sofa convertible; hide a bed sofa; and the like. Although they have many different names, they all do one thing the same. A modern sofa bed is that furniture that serves as a couch for sitting in the day time and as a bed for sleeping in the evening. These are specially designed to serve this dual purpose. There are many styles of sofa beds to choose from ranging from size to construction to the type of mattress used inside of it. The basic styles include the traditional pull-out sofa bed, the click-clack convertible sofa bed, and the futon sofa bed.
Futon Sofa Beds
A traditional Futon Sofa Bed should contain a natural fiber mattress, that serves as the cushion for sitting and the bed for sleeping and is on the outside not hidden inside the frame. These sofa bed mattresses can be as comfortable as any quality mattress on the market today. Latex, Wool, Organic Cotton, Micro-Coils, and Coconut Coir comfort layers are used to make thick, cozy, natural, and affordable sofa bed mattresses. The mattress is the most import part of a sofa bed purchase. Any sofa bed can look nice as sofa but can create a very uncomfortable bed for sleeping, so the mattress on a sofa bed is the most important component of this purchase.
Traditional Sofa Beds
A traditional sofa beds actually have two frames. The wooden frame is used to shape the sofa. The metal, mechanical frame is used for pulling out the bed and supporting the mattress. There are a couple things to keep in mind when looking at the frame. Buyers need to choose a sturdy wooden frame. Some types of wood, like pine, are sold cheaply, but they are not particularly durable. If the wooden frame splits, then the mechanical bed frame has no support, rendering the sofa bed useless. Choose a high quality wood, and if possible, try to find a sofa bed made out of kiln-dried wood. This wood has almost no moisture content, so it is highly durable and resistant to splintering. The metal frame needs to be strong enough to support the bed, but light enough to open easily. Before buying any sofa bed, a customer needs to test out the opening mechanism. Visit a local furniture dealer and look at the different sofa beds. Try to open and close the bed inside the store, keeping in mind which ones operate more smoothly.
Click-Clack Sofa Beds
Click Clack Sofa Beds are hybrid blend of a futon sofa bed and a traditional sofa bed. They have the look of traditional sofa beds, but operate like traditional futon sofa beds. But, unlike both futon sofa beds and traditional sofa beds, click-clack sofa beds do not contain a separate mattress. The seat cushion is also the same as the sleeping surface. They are cost effective and convenient, but most styles are very comfortable for sleeping more than one person. The major negative is that they have a dip or crevice in the center of the sleeping surface, created by the hinge between the seat and back sections. This can make sleeping uncomfortable if sleeping more than one.
