Antique Beige Outdura Futon Mattress Cover

The superior quality of The Antique Beige Indoor Outdoor Futon Cover has a 1500 UV resistance and water repellent/breathable (not waterproof). This fabulous outdoor futon cover has a tensile strength wrap of 235 and tensile strength filling of 140 and has been tested for 15,000 cycles of abrasion testing. This fabric is bleach cleanable & machine washable and able to be hung dry. For use either out side or in a very sunny window this futon mattress cover is soft and comfortable yet durable and will never fade.

Outdura fabrics are made using only 100% Dolan solution dyed acrylic fiber. Solution dying is a unique process in which the pigment or dye is added, along with UV stabilizers, while the fiber is still in viscousform. This locks the color in so that it cannot be faded by the sun or even bleached out with chlorine bleach! Additionally, the UV stabilizers keep the sun from dry-rotting the fabric. This is when a fabric, exposed to the sun will lose strength to the point it can literally turn to dust. Solution-dyed acrylic is a natural at resisting stains and as a further enhancement stain release finishes are added making it even more stain resistant.

Mildew is not a problem for Outdura either because acrylic will not support the growth of mildew.

To give the fabric durability and a great look and hand, ring spun yarns and staple cut fibers are used. Ring spinning has long been recognized as the premier method of producing yarns. Fabric made from ring spun yarns are softer, bulkier and more natural feeling and looking than fabric made with filament yarns of polyester, olefins or any other synthetic fiber. These fabrics are one dimensional, slick and lifeless when compared to fabrics made from ring spun yarns. Two ply yarns are used to add strength and durability making the fabric more abrasion and pill resistant. Would it be cheaper to use yarns and fibers made by other methods, certainly, but then you couldn't enjoy your outdoor futon fabrics near as much or for near as long!

The word FUTON is a Japanese word originally referring to any round mat our cushion filled with leaves. The traditional Japanese Futon is a group of three products making up a bed. The environment will in most situations determine the type of futon slipcover you need. By environment, I am referring to not only the space itself, but the what other items are the sharing the space and who will be using it. As an example, do you have children or pets? Will this be used as a main piece of furniture in a living room, or as an occasional in the guest room. If you are in a moist environment or are planning to have your mattress outside, an acrylic outdoor futon slipcover will be ideal rather than a cotton futon slipcover as cotton absorbs moisture and the acrylic is both moisture and mold resistant. For children and pets, a microfiber futon cover may be a better option as microfiber is stain resistant, water repellent and machine washable. Learn more about What's The Best Mattress Cover?
